DILEMMA: Product Key

My Microsoft Office 2007 is asking me for a PRODUCT KEY. It's a 24-character key to validate authenticity. My Sony VAIO has a certificate of authenticity sticker and there, the product key is written. But when I copied and entered it, a note always appears saying, 'it is not the right product key!' I've already ignored this on the 25th time. The result, my Microsoft Office Word's features are not funtioning! I'm in frustration. Does it mean it's not already valid? I'm no brainy on softwares. Please help me.
